If you had a Facebook account at any point between May 24, 2007, and Dec. 22, 2022, you have until Aug. 25 to claim your share of the $725 million settlement in the class-action lawsuit involving Cambridge Analytica.
As part of the settlement, Meta (Facebook’s parent company) has agreed to pay the sum, even though they do not admit any wrongdoing. The lawsuit alleges that Facebook allowed unauthorized access to user data by third parties like Cambridge Analytica, a now-defunct data analytics company that worked with Donald Trump’s campaign to gather information on Facebook users’ voting habits.
