It is caused due to the clogging of the hair follicles by sebum, dead skin cells, and dirt and can further lead to skin scarring. As per the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), acne occurs in almost 85% of the population in the U.S. at some point in their lives.
The increasing number of burn cases is another major factor propelling the demand for scar treatment in the U.S. As per the American Burn Association (ABA), in the U.S., almost 486,000 burn injuries were registered in 2011. People in the U.S. are spending more on personal care products these days and this is one of the biggest factors fuelling the rise in the demand for scar treatment in the country. As per the AAD, 40–50 million people in the U.S. spend $2 million every year for the prevention and treatment of acne.
