Hi everyone,
I'm planning a game project and have started talking with a few development teams. Before moving forward, I want to make sure I'm asking the right questions.
When hiring a mobile game development company or individual game developers, it's easy to focus on pricing and timelines, but I feel there are probably other important things to consider as well.
Some questions I have so far are:
Have they built similar games before? Which game engine do they recommend (Unity, Unreal, etc.) and why? Can they show live games they've worked on? Who owns the source code and assets after the project is completed? How do they handle testing and bug fixing? What happens if new features are added during development? Do they provide support after launch?
I'm also curious about the biggest mistakes people make when choosing a development team. Sometimes a portfolio looks great, but the actual experience can be very different.
For those who have hired game developers before:
What questions helped you make the right decision? Were there any red flags you noticed too late? Is communication more important than price when choosing a team?
I'd really appreciate hearing some real experiences before moving ahead with my project.
Thanks!
