Does keeping solar panels clean actually make a noticeable difference?

I’ve been thinking more about routine home maintenance lately, especially things that are easy to overlook after they’re installed. Solar panels seem like one of those things—you put them on the roof and mostly forget about them, but they’re still exposed to dust, pollen, bird droppings, and weather all year.

For anyone who has had solar panels for a while, have you noticed a meaningful difference in their performance after cleaning them? I’m also curious whether people normally clean them themselves or hire someone for it. I came across the term Professional solar panel cleaning while looking into maintenance options, but I’m not sure when paying for a service actually makes sense.
