But to your point. Magi are the ANTI-Boss as well as ANTI-ranged. They kill boss mobs like the knight, ogre, Wraith, etc. very fast and easily. They eliminate archers without risk and can take out mazes in a safe manner. They are able to kill bugs by using fireballs(might take more than 1 early). They have no bullet drop to increase range however the game is characterized by very little sight lines and terrible render range baseline. In general, mages would be perfectly fine using the crystal sword or dagger and orb. They get started with staff, which results in 0 magic damage per spell, but a terribly physical damage.

Wizards have less than 10 points of strength. Therefore, the 19 base damage can be reduced, you do like 35% or so lower than the base. If you hit limbs its even lower. Against armor its even lower.
